The Southwest Incident Management Team has been actively engaged in debris removal at the El Llano Road bridge over the past three days, addressing a high-risk location impacted by the Hermit’s Peak/Calf Canyon Fire. This bridge has accumulated significant fire-related debris, including ash and silt, leading to severe flooding during heavy rains that makes the road impassable and threatens nearby homes.
The dedicated team has successfully transported numerous truckloads of debris to the local landfill and will continue to tackle other affected areas tomorrow within county and city limits. This site is part of a broader initiative to manage ongoing flooding issues in San Miguel County, and plans for redesign and reconstruction are underway. We appreciate their hard work and commitment to improving our community.
