Compensation Options are Available for Individuals Experiencing Post-Fire Flooding and Cascading Impacts with the Hermit’s Peak/Calf Canyon Claims Office

Recent flooding within the City of Las Vegas and San Miguel County affected by the Hermit’s Peak/Calf Canyon Fire burn scar has prompted questions about available compensation for the new damages/losses through the Hermit’s Peak/Calf Canyon Claims Office (HPCC Claims Office). Resources are available for impacted individuals.

In response, the HPPC Claims Office has provided the community with a Fact Sheet on Post-Fire and Cascading Impacts. This sheet is meant to identify the next steps for those residents impacted by the cascading effects from the Hermit’s Peak/Calf Canyon Fire and subsequent flooding.

If you have not done so already, you can begin the Hermit’s Peak/Calf Canyon claims process by submitting a Notice of Loss (NOL) in person at the Las Vegas Claims Office at 216 Mills Avenue in Las Vegas, NM.

Hours of Operation

Monday, Wednesday, Thursday: 7:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Tuesday: 7:30 a.m. - 7:30 p.m.

Saturday: 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Other options to submit an NOL is by email to fema-hermits-peak@fema.dhs.gov, or by mailing it to FEMA Hermit’s Peak/Calf Canyon Claims Office at P.O. Box 1329, Santa Fe, NM 87504. NOLs must be submitted before November 14, 2024, as outlined by the Hermit’s Peak/Calf Canyon Fire Assistance Act.

Claimants who have already signed a Letter of Determination (LOD) and Release and Certification (R&C) form can request to re-open their claim for good cause due to new damages/losses. This can be done by submitting a signed request to your Claims Office Navigator.

Individuals with existing claims, regardless of their status, should consult their assigned Claims Office Navigator for guidance on pursuing additional compensation for the new damages/losses.

You can also call the Helpline at 505-995-7133 from Monday – Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

More information is provided on the attached PDF Fact Sheet from the HPCC Claims Office.
