City of Las Vegas - Winter Storm Update
Staying Proactive in the Face of the Storm
Las Vegas continues to experience a significant winter storm. While the snow is continuing, we want to assure residents that the City is actively managing this event to ensure your safety and minimize disruptions.
Here's what you need to know:
· Weather: The snow is expected to taper off on Friday evening, but cold temperatures and icy conditions will persist through the weekend. Please continue to exercise caution.
· Roads: Crews are working diligently to clear roads. However, many remain snow-packed and icy. Please avoid unnecessary travel. For updated road conditions and closures, visit https://www.nmroads.com/mapIndex.html.
· Emergency Operations Center (EOC): The City has activated its Emergency Operations Center to coordinate a proactive response to the storm. This allows us to effectively manage resources, communicate with partner agencies, and address any emerging needs.
· Warming Center: Three warming center at the Abe Montoya Recreation Center will remain open until 11:00 am on Friday November 8th.
What the City is doing:
· Incident Command System (ICS): We are using the Incident Command System, a standardized approach to emergency management, to ensure a coordinated and efficient response.
· Snow Removal: Public Works crews and contractors are working around the clock to clear roads and ensure access to essential services.
· Shelter and Support: We are providing warm shelter and support to those in need.
· Communication: We are committed to keeping the public informed through our website, social media channels, and local media outlets.
We urge all residents to remain vigilant and take precautions:

· Dress warmly and be aware of the signs of hypothermia and frostbite.
