PSA 2/26/2025 5:00 p.m.: Update #15 – Ongoing Repairs and Water Supply Challenges

asalas843

Over the past 48 hours, the Water Treatment Plant has been undergoing essential repairs, upgrades, and equipment replacements, with further repairs continuing over the next few days. Temporary pauses in operations for backwashing and repairs have been necessary and will persist. To maintain water reserves and optimal water pressure, Macro Companies, Inc. will continue working around the clock to transport water in from Santa Rosa and Santa Fe.

A Mandatory Boil Order remains in effect until the New Mexico Environment Department’s Drinking Water Bureau lifts the order, based on state drinking water standards. We will continue to provide water relief to those in need.

Most areas within the city now have stable water pressure, except for the Airport Road area, where repairs are ongoing. This complex repair is time-consuming, and updates will be provided as available.

The Water Distribution Team is actively managing water pressure and flushing fire hydrants, but some areas may still experience intermittent low pressure.

There have been no new water leak reports in the last 48 hours. Residents are asked to report any unusual water pooling to the Water Distribution Department at 505-454-1401 or the Las Vegas City Police Dispatch at 505-425-7504.

Packaged Water Distribution will continue starting tomorrow at Rodriguez Park, located at 1308 Grant Street, Las Vegas, NM 87701. The Abe Montoya Recreation Center pick-up site will no longer be in operation. Each household may pick up two (2) cases of water per day at the Rodriguez Park location.

We understand this situation has been challenging, and we are committed to making more permanent repairs to the current plant and replacing necessary equipment to stabilize operations until a new water plant and updated infrastructure are constructed. We continue to gather data for a detailed after-action review, which will be shared with the public as soon as it is possible.

Thank you for your continued patience.
