PSA 3/12/2025 19:30 a.m.: Red Flag Warning in Effect for Las Vegas Today

asalas843

A Red Flag Warning has been issued for Las Vegas and surrounding areas from 12:00 p.m. today until 8:00 p.m. due to strong winds and low humidity, which create an extreme fire risk. Winds will be from the west to northwest at 25-35 mph, with gusts up to 45 mph.

Additionally, from tomorrow evening through Friday, a High Wind Warning will be in effect due to a powerful Spring storm, with west winds of 35-50 mph and gusts reaching up to 75 mph, likely leading to another Red Flag Warning for the region.

If you live in a PNM service area, be sure to sign up for outage alerts by texting #ALERT to 78766 from a mobile phone linked to your account, as high winds may cause trees and power lines to fall, potentially resulting in power outages.

Due to dangerous crosswinds and blowing dust, visibility will be reduced, making travel hazardous. Open burning is strictly prohibited within city limits due to critical fire conditions.

Please take necessary precautions and stay safe during these extreme weather conditions.
